Copa América: Neymar stripped of the captaincy of Brazil and replaced by Dani Alves
Neymar has been stripped of the captaincy of Brazil for the Copa América next month and will be replaced by his teammate of Paris St-Germain, Dani Alves.

The coach of Tite informed the 27-year-old striker on Saturday, given the role eight months ago but under pressure after recent disciplinary problems.

Alves, 36, will also lead the team in friendly matches against Qatar and Honduras.

He has been captain of Brazil four times, most recently in a 1-0 victory over Germany in March 2018.

This month, French soccer authorities banned Neymar for three games after he hit a fan after PSG's defeat by Rennes in the French Cup final.

He was reportedly also involved in a costume incident with his PSG teammates.

The Copa América will take place in Brazil from June 14 to July 7, and the hosts will face Bolivia, Venezuela, and Peru in Group A.
