Florida's legislators want Pulse Nightclub to become a national monument

Lawmakers presented billions of people in the nightclub.

Florida MPs proposed a bill on Monday, turning the pulse night club into a national monument a few days before the third anniversary of the mass shooting at the site of Orlando.

Representatives of the US Democrats UU Darren Soto, Stephanie Murphy, and Val Deming introduced the law, which will now nominate Pulse as a federal landmark in Orange County, in which 49 people in the most deadly acts of violence against LGBTQ Had died History of the United States

"On Monday in the interim pulse memorial, a crowd said," The monument will work as a memo to extravagant ways to heal our community and remove hatred. " "We recognize the need to preserve LGBTQ historical sites due to cases like Matthew Sheppard Memorial, which have been deliberately destroyed without this protection, Pulse Memorial has become a symbol of hope, love, and light."
Three years after the shooting of Umar Matin, on June 12, 49 people were shot dead and more than 50 were injured in Pulse during the lesbian disco's Latin night. Police shot Matien and his widow Noor Salman was found guilty of helping in the attack.

"The tragedy of Pulse shook our community and changed us forever," Murphy said in a statement. "It is important that we remember the love that the 49 victims and their loved ones were brought into the world, which will be stronger than that day stolen from life."
Soto said that the proposed legislation will allow the Forest Pulse Foundation to classify the Memorial as part of the National Park System to maintain control over the construction of the Memorial. The foundation created by the former owner of Pulse Barbara Poma unveiled the provisional monument last year. Includes enlightened display on the wall, illuminated benches and a steel fence where visitors can leave messages and memories.

The Foundation is working to raise $ 50 million for the permanent memorial and museum's design, construction and maintenance, as well as 49 scholarship funds. Poma told WFTV9 that up to $ 14 million has been collected so far for the construction of the foundation, most of which developed the county, in the project a national monument designation received more eligibility through federal funds. According to Orlando Sentinel, a pulse has already been selected in the final teams of architects and artists for the construction of the memorial and the winners will be decided in October.

Poma announced plans for a memorial and a museum in 2017, although a January 2018 survey found that Orlando residents were divided almost evenly on the way to a sad remembrance. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the largest source of the debate seemed to be the structure of nightclub construction, although residents also said that they would prefer to emphasize 49 victims instead of the shooter.

MPs are expected to pass the bill in June 2020, while the memorial and museum will open in 2022.
