The name of Truist Bank is scheduled to be added to many professional baseball stadiums, as it is the future identity of the combined BB & T and SunTrust banks.

In February, it was revealed that financial institutions SunTrust and BB & T Corp. plan to merge. The merger is not expected to be completed until fall or winter, but on Wednesday it was revealed that the name Truist Financial Corp. BB & T-SunTrust institution

Within the world of baseball, the merger will have important implications in regard to baseball stadium identities, since both SunTrust and BB & T are active in naming rights agreements. The most prominent of the group is SunTrust, which serves as a name rights partner for SunTrust Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves. BB & T, meanwhile, has its nickname in several stadiums in the affiliated minor leagues and in the independent levels. Facilities that include their brand include the BB & T Ballpark moniker used for Winston-Salem Dash (High A, Carolina League) and Charlotte Knights (AAA Class, International League), BB & T Ballpark historic Bowman Field. for Williams cut Crosscutters (Short-season A; NY-Penn League), and the new BB & T point for the High Point Rockers (Independent; Atlantic League).

For now, it is not known exactly when the Truist brand will be applied to stadiums.

The brand is the most visible part of the work that must be done before the two long-established southern banks become one. Following the closing of the merger, the combined parent company will take the name of Truist, although the brands SunTrust and BB & T last up to two years.

Bravos Stadium will still be known as SunTrust Park until the end of the season and possibly next season before the stadium near I-285 and I-75 is renamed Truist.

Kelly King, the president and CEO of BB & T said it will take about a year to combine the systems of the two banks after the close of the merger. For now, branches will keep their current brand, as well as checks, credit cards, and debit cards. The executives want a smooth transition to the new name in the next 18 to 24 months.

As the most prominent in the SunTrust / BB & T stadiums, SunTrust Park is likely to attract the most attention during the process of unveiling a new brand identity. However, given the role that both institutions have in stadium naming rights, the implications will extend beyond the Braves home.
