According to Chicago police, seven people were arrested early Tuesday after the graffiti was painted with spray on the sculpture The Bean in Millennium Park and the Wall of Cancer Survivors in Maggie Daley Park.

The vandalism occurred shortly before midnight in the 300 blocks of East Randolph Street, police said. The officers who responded arrested seven suspects, all adults, nearby.

Police cars and a couple of officers were placed in front of the Bean, also known as Cloud Gate, before dawn on Tuesday. The words were scribbled in silver paint on their stainless steel surface near the bottom corner on the southwest side. At the entrance to the park at street level, two banks also had graffiti that read "35 °" in the same paint tone.

After further investigation on Tuesday morning, officers also found that the Cancer Survivor Wall at Maggie Daley Park was vandalized.

The Bean was created by the artist Anish Kapoor and was installed in Millennium Park in 2006. It is composed of 168 stainless steel plates that are highly polished. In 2009, someone scratched graffiti on the northeast side.
