9 children killed in Uttarakhand after school van collapses


In a tragic incident, a school van collapsed near Kangsali village in Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand on Tuesday killing at least nine children in which they were traveling.

According to reports, a total of 18 children were present in the van when the driver lost control of the vehicle and slipped off the road and fell into the gorge.

A team of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) reached the scene and launched a rescue operation.

Inspector-General of Police (Garhwal) Ajay Routela confirmed the death of eight students in the incident. Meanwhile, those injured in the accident were taken to a nearby hospital.

In another accident, two people died and at least 22 were injured after a bus-tractor collision on the Agra-Lucknow highway in Unnao district on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened when people were turning over after hitting the bus in the tractor. The victim returned after offering prayers at Lodheshwar Mahadev Temple.
