Barcelona will begin their bid for the three Mob as Spanish League champions on Friday 16 August and will do so with the help of some new superstars. Barça travels to the Basque Country, where he will face the Athletic Club of Bilbao San Mamés at 3:00 pm. ET (be SPORTS, bein SPORTS in Spanish; aired on FuboTV to launch 2019-2020 La Liga campaign; SPORTS CONNECT).

Although the team faced problems in European competition in recent years, Barcelona remained the undisputed king of La Liga. Last season, Barca won the second consecutive Spanish first division title, the first with a double-digit difference in both years, and finished fourth in the last five years. No club has won three consecutive La Liga titles as Barcelona did so between 2009 and 2011.

In their quest for a third consecutive title, as well as a return to European glory, Barcelona has provided some help to their already powerful team, most notably Antoine Griezmann of Atlético de Madrid, whom the club won against their athletic club Should start official. Griezmann Atletley was sensational during his five years as the Raiders, scoring 94 goals in 180 matches in the league. He was also impressed at the Presiden, having recently been friendly with Napoleon. Griezmann, who lost a third option after Neymar left in 2017 with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, can provide great momentum for an attack.

The athletic club match could also witness the official debut of 22-year-old Dutch midfielder Frankie de Jong, who moved from Ajax on a successful summer transfer.

In charge of his first full season at the Athletic Club, Gazica Geritano helped outline the changes in Bilbao. After finishing 16th with 43 points in 2018, the Athletic Club finished eighth with 53 points in 2019 (but UEFA could not qualify for the Europa League, contrary to goal). This year Garritano's challenge will be to continue that progress and see if she can make a comeback in the European competition.

Bilbao received a major boost against Barcelona's approach in their attempt to reach Europe as the first match. Star attacker Inky Williams signed a nine-year contract extension with the club, and with the (and modest) goal of becoming a club legend. A good way to move forward would be to defeat Barcelona in the first game after signing the deal.

Barcelona and Athletic Club drew 0–0 and 1–1 in their two La Liga games last season.
