Washington: US space agency NASA's warning about a month and a half ago is going to come true today. Today i.e. Wednesday afternoon, a big event is going to happen in space. Today a meteor body as large as Everest is going to pass through the Earth. NASA has named this meteorite the asteroid 1998 OR2. It will pass through the earth at a speed of 31 thousand 319 kilometers per hour.

However, there is no need to panic as it will pass through a distance of 39 lakh miles (63 lakh km) from the earth.

That is, about 16 times the distance of the Moon from the Earth (3 lakh 84 thousand 400 kilometers). However, this distance is not considered much in space science. Earlier it was feared to hit the Earth, but now scientists have made it clear that no such incident is going to happen. The width of this meteorite is 1.5 mi (2.4 km). It was first seen by NASA in 1998. It will be closest to the Earth at 3:25 pm Indian time on April 29.

Paula Kodas, manager of Near Earth Object Studies at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said that there is no possibility of a meteoroid of any size hitting the Earth yet. Scientists have detected and tracked more than 90% of meteorites up to a kilometer in size around the Earth. He told that the next round of meteorites towards the Earth may take place around 18 May 2031. Then it will come out from a distance of 1.90 crore kilometers.
