Internation Desk: More than 2.11 lakh patients have died of corona virus in the world and more than 3 million people are infected. Meanwhile, news is coming in from New York that about 80% of patients suffering from infections are dying on ventilators. There are speculations that the infection may increase due to being on the ventilator for a long time. This new information has come to light when many countries have started arranging more and more ventilators.

Doctors in New York have speculated that corona infections may increase rather than decrease, perhaps due to ventilators. Patients who are unable to breathe on their own, and are specially admitted in the ICU, are breathed with the help of this machine. Under this procedure, the patient is first given anesthesia. After this, a tube is put in the throat and through it oxygen goes in and carbon dioxide comes out. In this, the patient does not have to try himself to breathe. Patients die on ventilators in 40 to 50% of cases. But in the case of corona-infected patients, the figure is appearing at over 80%. Local and NYC government officials in New York expressed concern over this trend of death, saying it could be caused by ventilators. According to Albert Rizzo, chief medical officer of the American Lung Association, such reports are coming not only from New York, but also from many hospitals in America.

Similar cases are also seen in China and Britain. A study by a small group in Wuhan, China, found that around 86% of patients died while on ventilator, while 66% were seen in the UK. In all these cases, it is clear that if patients' mortality is usually up to 50% when going on ventilator, it greatly increases in the case of corona infection. The exact cause is not known, but many experts are worrying that perhaps the ventilator is weakening the immune system in patients. Along with this conjecture, a fact is also being reported that after a while the ventilator starts harming the patient as oxygen is sent to the lungs through a very small force in the process.

Eddy Phan, a lung specialist at Toronto General Hospital in Canada, clearly believes that ventilators are bad for patients' health. They say- In the last decade, the fact that ventilator worsens the condition of lungs, therefore, we should be very careful in its use. Doctors aware of these dangers of ventilators do not place the patient on it unless it is strictly necessary. In the wake of rising deaths in the US, patients are being tried to breathe through the nasal tube or other methods. The C-Pap device is also one of these methods that is being used for patients whose condition is better than other patients.
