An earthquake shakes San Fernando Valley, southern California

The US Geological Survey said that a 4.2-magnitude earthquake shook the San Fernando Valley in southern California before 4:30 am Thursday.

The slight earthquake, which felt like an earthquake, a pause, then slightly more rocking, was centered near Bakoyima.

Paquima is about 23 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

The US Geological Survey initially reported a 4.5 magnitude earthquake, but has since reduced it.
