China Warns United States Against Hong Kong New Ban on Security Law
China on Tuesday warned the United States against a ban on Hong Kong's new security law, saying Beijing was fully prepared with its necessary countermeasures.

On Tuesday, the Standing Committee of 162 members of the Chinese People's National People's Congress (NPC) unanimously approved the National Security Law for Hong Kong. Soon after its approval, Jinping signed the legislation that enforced the law.

In a statement, United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington would stop exporting defense equipment made in Hong Kong to the United States with its new national security law to push Beijing forward, and lift similar restrictions. .

Reacting strongly to this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that "Hong Kong's national security law is a matter for China and no outside country has the right to interfere with it."
