The body of Naya Rivera is found in Lake California, authorities say
Ventura County Police Chief Bel Ayoub said today that Naya Rivera has used her last power to save her 4-year-old son before her death.

Ayoub said: "She mustered enough energy to return her son to the boat, but not enough to save herself."

The Ventura Provincial Sheriff's Office said at a press conference that a body that had been discovered Monday morning in Lake Peru was recognized as a former "jelly" actress.

Rivera and her son rented a floating boat on Lake Piru on Wednesday. The child told rescuers that he and his mother had plunged into the water to swim, but they did not return to the boat. Investigators said he looked back and saw it disappear under the surface of the water, Ayoub said.

Her son was found asleep on a floating boat for rent after it was too late. A life jacket was found on the boat and the boy was wearing another jacket.

Rivera, 33, was assumed to have died after being lost on Wednesday.

Her body was found floating in the lake's northeastern region, where the water depth ranges from 35 to 60 feet on Monday after a six-day inspection. Ayoub said that investigators are "confident" that the body that was found was Rivera, but that the body is still being transferred to the Ventura County Office, where it will be identified through dental records.

Ayoub said the Sharif’s administration was in “direct contact” with Rivera's family.

Ayoub said: "Her family was in the lake every day, showing promise and communication with our investigators."

The actress was best known for her role as Santana Lopez in the "Fox" Glee show, which was very popular after her debut in 2009. She appeared in almost every episode of the popular musical comedy drama, which ended in 2015.

Colleagues Rivera "Glee" from the cast of actors Cory Monteth and Mark Saling also died.

Members of the cast took on the social media show to mourn their marriage, and shared their condolences to Rivera's family

How can you transfer all your love and respect to someone in one post? Chris Culver, who played Kurt on "Glee", wrote on his Instagram in a long and passionate explanation of his picture and Rivera. "How can you sum up a decade of friendship and laughter with words alone? If you are a friend of Naya Rivera, you cannot simply."

"Relax well, Naya," left Jane Lynch, who played coach Soo Silvestre in the program. "What a strength you are. Love and peace to your family.

Rivera also participated in the CBS comedy series "The Royal Family" and in the comedy "The Master of Disguise." Recently, she starred in the TV series "Step Up", based on the movie's franchise.
