The FBI says that China is harboring a fugitive from a military-linked biologist at the San Francisco consulate
According to court documents provided by the FBI, the Chinese consulate in San Francisco is harboring a biology researcher who falsely denied his relationship with the Chinese army to obtain a visa and enter the country.

The registration was part of a document citing a large number of other episodes in which Chinese citizens allegedly lied to their visa applications by hiding their military communications.

Tang Guan, a researcher at the University of California, Davis, stated in the application for a J-1 visa that she “had never served in the military, but an open source investigation revealed photos of her in the uniform of the PLA civilian staff.” The FBI claimed that “an army Popular Editing], and that she was employed as a researcher at the Military Medical University of the Air Force, which is another name for the Fourth Military Medical University.

Then, during an interview with FBI agents on June 20, Tang denied "serving in the Chinese army, and claiming that she did not know the meaning of the badge on her military uniform, and that wearing military uniform was required to attend FMMU because it was a military school."

The FBI revealed that he immediately executed a search warrant at Tang's home and found additional evidence of Tang's affiliation with the People's Liberation Army.

"The FBI assesses that in the post-search and interview with Tang on June 20, 2020, Tang went to the Chinese consulate in San Francisco, where the FBI is staying," the office announced.

The office added that there is evidence in at least one case "of a military scientist who copies or steals information from American institutions under the guidance of their military superiors in China." Court documents contained similar evidence against many other Chinese scholars.

The government wrote in documents that accused Chen Song, for example, were "an active scientist in military service, a military scientist in the People's Liberation Army who lied to enter the United States, attempted to destroy evidence and lied widely to the FBI when he was interviewed."
