Biden reverses Trump's decision, cancels plans to ban TikTok, WeChat in America
US President Joe Biden on Wednesday rescinded an executive order issued by his predecessor Donald Trump that planned to ban Chinese apps such as TikTok and WeChat over national security concerns. The White House released this information in a statement.

According to the statement, instead of banning TikTok or WeChat, the Biden administration will develop an evidence-based analysis framework to assess threats from internet apps controlled by foreign companies. Under this, those software apps will be identified, which pose a serious threat to the national security of America and the people.

These include apps linked to organizations promoting foreign interests as well as software involved in criminal activity. The new executive order issued by Biden also calls on federal agencies, including the Treasury Department, to create detailed guidelines to ensure the protection of sensitive personal data to prevent misuse.
